How long have you been using VETIGEL^®, and approximately how many cases have involved its use?

“I began using VETIGEL^® about four years ago and have incorporated it into approximately 30 cases since then.”

What do you appreciate most about VETIGEL^®?

“It’s incredibly user-friendly. The consistency of the gel is ideal, it’s thick enough to mold to the application site and stays exactly where it’s placed. I always leave it in situ, and I’ve never encountered any issues with it post-operatively.”

What types of procedures have benefited most from VETIGEL^® in your experience?

“Primarily dental extractions. VETIGEL^® helps to significantly reduce intraoperative bleeding and often shortens overall procedure time (by allowing improved visualization once any bleeding is controlled), which benefits both the patient and the surgical team.

I’ve also successfully used VETIGEL^® in maxillectomies and mandibulectomies. As of recently, I have really enjoyed using it for my gingivoplasty/gingivectomy sites where I will use a diamond bur to contour a gingival enlargement and place VETIGEL^® to achieve haemostasis ~ it allows for a beautiful finish on these cases.”

Given your experience, in what other applications do you see potential for VETIGEL^®?

“I’m planning to explore its use during gingival flap surgeries and in managing bleeding associated with oral mass removals. I think there’s potential for broader application across oral surgery cases.”

Would you recommend VETIGEL^® to other veterinary professionals?

“Absolutely. It saves valuable surgical time (by controlling any bleeding that is impairing visualization during surgery) and improves the overall experience for the patient. It’s also reassuring to have on hand for challenging or unexpected bleeding, its presence adds an extra layer of confidence during procedures.”
